Beautiful Lighting

Last year Lucas was asked to ‘create’ 1360 illuminated pavers to be placed at ground level in a high traffic area of Southbank Parklands, Brisbane.  The brief came from Lightech Australia and it became quite a long labour of love from the initial design through to manufacture.  At the time, and still, to our knowledge, there is no comprable product on the market.

Lucas created the original mould for the resin blocks (UV Stabilised) after much experimentation with slightly differing materials and products….  Now, how to illuminate it?

Lucas has worked extensively on lighting projects in the past, and of course loves the medium and playing with ‘light’.

To this end, Lucas used Fibre Optics to light the pavers from the underside – the trick was achieving even dispersion of light.

The ‘Light Blocks’ or Orbix, now sit happily in their new home with low to zero maintenance and energy efficency to boot!

Please contact us for more information about Orbix or any lighting enquiries.

The feathers are flying

The beautiful Feather sculptures for Noosa Heads are now on their way to the Sunshine Coast from Brisbane where we will treat the surface with the magic ‘Gold Gun’ next week.

The results will be spectacular – the varying sizes, the use of light and shadows and a beautiful gold patina…  We can’t wait for installation!

Enjoy these update images with more to come once the Feathers have been treated.

Noosa Heads Update

Feather Bells, Feathered Wings, Glossy Blacks and Fins.

The sculptures for Noosa Public Art Project are progressing nicely, and will be completed before deadline thanks to Langford Metal.

What began as technical drawings created by Lucas:

The above are images of the largest of the 3 differing sizes to be installed.

We will be posting more images during installation and of course, on completion!

Gold, Silver and Bronze Art……

In keeping with Lucas’ love of all things shiny, we now offer specialist metalised coatings (steel, bronze, copper etc) that can be applied to any surface….  On any ‘thing’…..  Turning ordinary objects and surfaces into dazzling works of art.

We’ve taken to calling Lucas ‘The Alchemist’

The two objects above have just been ‘turned into gold’.

The Alchemists new toy above….

And the finished products below-

Two run-of-the-mill garden rocks.  The possibilities to utilize these coatings in Public Art works are amazing!

If you’d like to know more about the process, please contact us.
