POSTPONEMENT – Easter Exhibition

Due to low accomodation bookings, not-so-great weather forecasts and the possibility of further flooding on the Sunshine Coast, we have decided to postpone Lucas’ much anticipated Final Exhibition.  We feel that as it will be the last occasion to view Lucas’ stunning work in an exhibition format we’d rather give our Clients, Collectors and Supporters every opportunity to be a part of this Retrospective and after the inclement weather of the past 3 months – with more to come :-( – we realise that it just mightn’t be possible.

The body of work is ready to go.  The plinths are waiting.  The cataloguing of each new piece is complete.  We’re ready…..  We will be announcing details of the new dates early next week.  In the meantime if you need further information, please contact Lucas Salton Design +61 7 5476 0000.

Public Art Project – Complete

The sculpture seat has now been installed at Bundaberg Rail Station.  It has been a long process from Design to Fabrication to Installation but the Sculpture in place looks beautiful.

Lucas’ original inspiration for the project came after visiting the Bundaberg Region for Community Engagement last year.  The natural beauty of the area, Bundabergs gorgeous beaches and the delightful turtles of Mon Repos resounded strongly with Lucas and his affinity for nature:  the Sandy Sculpture was born.

From Lucas’ original sketches:

The Sculpture was then fabricated incorporating the sand-waves and was then ready for bronze coating.

And then ready to go.

And here it is, in place:

The final glass exhibition – Lucas Salton

As you my be aware, Lucas Salton diversified into mixed medium Public Art Projects roughly 3 years ago.  Lucas is / was a Master Glassblower but due to a fundamental need to expand creatively after 20 years in the craft and a lack of facilities on the Sunshine Coast, Lucas made the leap into Public Art, Design and Design Consultancy.  Very successfully too, might I add.

As Lucas Salton Design continues to thrive designing, fabricating, creating and installing large scale projects, it’s become apparent we need more space – quite a bit more.  We also feel it’s time to ‘let go’ of Lucas’ last remaining glass works with a sense of excitement for future projects and a smidge of sadness at the end of an era.

At some point in the coming 3 months (dates to be confirmed next week) we will be holding an exhibition / retrospective detailing Lucas’ long career as an internationally successful Glass Artist.

This will be an opportunity to view never before seen pieces and selected works from Lucas’ personal collection.  It will also be an opportunity for you to purchase the last Lucas Salton Art Glass pieces.

I will confirm the dates next week.  Please check back to our Promotions page for further details then.
